A photograph is a moment in time - often about 500th of a second. Whereas a painting is about more than that moment, and as life is never finished I wanted to reflect that in some work that gives the impression of time continuing. Strictly speaking these are not paintings, but they are not photographs either. Starting with a photograph I employ some of the painterly techniques that I studied at college. Sketches, underpainting, and large impressionistic sweeps of colour. This is all done without the smell of turps in my studio, yet is still true to digital art.
